All religions are mere "Constructs"!

Nothing came to us from the so called 'heaven'.(all problems will come to an end if we realise that we hav no other place to go to wash away our sins or to be punished.every thing happens on this planet ).

Nothing is given to us.
All religions are 'Constructs"

Men like Prophet Muhammed,Jesus, guru Nanak and many others raised their voice against injustice and the wrongs prevailing in their societies at a particular point in time. their idea was to lead the oppressed into the world of freedom. now we are in the 21st century, times have changed, our needs have changed,so why do keep fighting over our age old religious texts. why is just one particular religion targetted for being rigid. each religion has its own quirks, for example, jewish men wake up and thank God for not making them a woman!!!!!!!!!
and if i am not mistaken jewish women don't do vice -versa.
isnt that the height of insult for any woman.

Talkin about the growing religious fundamentalism, one cannot blame one religion for all the problems. fundamentalism is a product of OUR times.it has nothing to do with religion per se. a handful of misguided suicide bombers, or a bunch of psycho "Klans", or the "Saffron Brigade " don't decide what religion says. their genesis is deeply rooted in the political and the economical.and we urgently need to divert our attention to those hidden political agendas. the religious debate is superficial and provides no solution. it only furthers animosity.

Matters of the religion should be left to the individual.
What the time requires of this generation is to question those century old edicts and evolve a personal interpretation of one's religion.
All will be well in this world if only we make our conscience our religion

I Agree
John Lennon may be right, Imagine all the people living for today
I believe we all have our own path and it should not be presented as the only one, which is what all religeous institutions try and do.

Here is an article from my friend David Icke's newsletter he has a unique way of stating the obvious which you may find amusingly sane.

This week's David Icke Newsletter looks at what capital punishment says about the people and states that support it after the ritual murder this week of Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams.'

Those who support state killing are in favour of killing. I know that’s an obvious statement, but we are talking baby language here so they will have any chance of getting it. And if you are in favour of killing, how can you condemn others for killing? Everyone who supported the execution of Tookie Williams, or anyone else, is an advocate of murder, so they should cease to give me all that bollocks about ‘Thou Shalt Not Kill’. Thou Art killing – they just get some mug in a uniform to do it for them. I thought incitement to murder was against the law? Well, yes, it is, unless it’s the state doing the deed, then you become a ‘responsible, law-abiding, citizen’. It is so easy to achieve this State-us. You just agree with the State.'

This newsletter goes out on Saturday.

In case you're interested, the reason why Jewish men say that blessing is because they are obligated by hundreds of commandments, while women are in only three. (It's the reverse of secular outlook - that through obligation comes fulfillment.) Religious Jewish women are held in the highest regards: when the world treated women as mere objects of pleasure, the Torah forbade relations except in marriage (this is the source of the world's custom of marriage), there is a special commandment incumbent upon Jewish men in the first year of marriage to make their wives happy, constantly...and one of the greatest Jewish Rabbis once wrote that no matter how great one behaves in this world - irregardless how charitable, kind, loving and wonderful to the community, if his wife is mistreated he has no World to Come.

thanks for the info friend!
thanks for the information friend. Actually i already know this fact from my jewish friends.
But don't u think all these commandments render men as the active agent in any relationship and women as mere passive recepient?
And about the instituition of marriage, if u analyse its genesis and context, it actually took the freedom away from women by giving all the power to men. it actually made men the legal owner of women.

I've actually meant to reply to you sooner except I've had trouble logging into tig. To answer you question, men are as 'active' as women in marriage; both partners give to one another as much as they can for the strength of the relationship. Regarding the institution of marriage you've analysed, I don't know which marriage you've been analyzing because marriage in fact elevated women through granting them a certain sanctity and ownership over men - husbands have responsibilities and no longer could men treat woman as objects. I'm actually learning about marriage now in original Jewish texts, and I can tell you that the only thing men 'own' in women is thier right to marry another man, that's honestly all.

maternal commune
well if u do some research in anthropology my friend,... then u'll know tht before the man -made custom of marriage only maternal clans existed. where the female was the head of a commune. the origin of the instituition of marriage coincided with the emergence of the private property. if u take religious texts as a reference instead of anthropological survey then you are sure to come out with a biased view becoz in the end all religious texts are written by men to authorise their hold on everything!!!!!. If u want to really talk about such an age old instituition then u must make your reading more eclectic and open instead of confining yourself to one text.
And as far as your doubt about which marriage i ve been analysing then i feel it neccesary to inform u that it is the "AVERAGE MARRIAGE". i m sure you must be a good individual who respects the rights of women but what i am tryin to point out is that not all men are like u. and religious texts per se favour them so tht they can misuse this privilege with the help of the texts.
Happy New Year!
